The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Second Round game with #4 UNC and #5 Michigan State looked to be a close game after Carolina’s last victory. Unfortunately for the Spartans, the Tar Heels took an early lead and kept Michigan State at bay for the remainder of the game. UNC won 62-53 in a physical contest that saw multiple Tar Heels leave the floor with injuries.
Carolina went to Diamond DeShields early and often. DeShields finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
DeShields took a knee and a hard fall in the first half, but returned to lead UNC to victory.
Latifah Coleman did a little bit of everything for the Heels against MSU.
