The board of directors of the Orange Chatham Association of Realtors has called for the repeal of House Bill 2.

The directors unanimously approved a resolution in their April meeting.

The resolution reads:

“Whereas the National Association of REALTORS and the North Carolina Association of REALTORS have affirmed their legal position as a trade organization of non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, the Orange Chatham Association of REALTORS joins in that affirmation and calls for the immediate repeal of HB2, as the legislation is both harmful to our trade and in direct conflict with our code of ethics. This bill does not reflect our community, our profession or our members who value inclusion and opportunity for all individuals.  As we await this legislation’s demise, we affirm our professional and ethical commitment to equal opportunity for all.”

The group is now one of a number of government organizations, citizens and businesses to call for the bill’s repeal.
