**Update**

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says it has found the body of a woman matching the description of 79-year-old Shirley Haith. Haith had been missing since Friday. According to a release from the sheriff’s office, deputies found the body while searching a remote area near an old tractor path.

“Mrs. Haith’s family and friends have experienced almost a week of anguish and anxiety, hoping to find her alive,” said Sheriff Charles Blackwood. “We extend our condolences to them as they now grieve the loss of their loved one.”

The sheriff’s office says it will now work to determine the circumstances of Haith’s death.


The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for a 79-year-old woman who’s been missing since Friday.

Shirley Haith is five feet two inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with short white hair. She lives in northwestern Orange County, near the intersection of Harmony Church and Lynch Store Roads. Family members say she rarely leaves home except for regular errands and activities. She does not have any known cognitive impairments.

Haith drives a 1997 blue Ford Contour with license plate number XWY-7639. The vehicle has several distinguishing features, including:

  • A front license plate with the word “Jesus” on it
  • A pink foam flower attached to the rear antenna
  • Folded towels on the floorboard

If you see Shirley Haith, or if you have any information about her whereabouts, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is asking you to call 911 and report it.
