****Officials reported just after one o’clock Thursday afternoon that power had been restored to nearly all customers.****

A widespread power outage has knocked out power to more than 13,000 Duke Energy customers near downtown Durham on Thursday morning.

The outage knocked out power to “many street lights,” according to Durham Police. Officials are reminding motorists that an intersection without power is to be treated as a four-way stop.

Duke Energy now says the outage was first reported just before 10:30 Thursday morning and the utility is estimating power will be restored by 1:15 Thursday afternoon.
