A popular non-profit based in Chapel Hill and Carrboro has announced the appointment of the program’s first executive director.

PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro has appointed Sarah Dudzic to the new position. With over 15 years of experience leading non-profit organizations, Dudzic will assume her new role to help the group address the growing hunger and poverty crisis in the community.

PORCH was created in 2010 and has strived to alleviate hunger in the community through various non-perishable and fresh food programs, including a monthly food drive that serves over 160 neighborhoods in the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area.

“Food insecurity is one of the most fundamental issues facing families right now, and PORCH’s grassroots effort to address that issue is nothing short of inspiring,” Dudzic said. “We have challenging times and amazing opportunities ahead. I can’t wait to get started!”

Dudzic has either worked as a strategic thinker, collaborator, fundraiser or communicator for the various non-profits she’s lead, such as the MoveUp Partnership for Adult Learning in Hartford, Connecticut, and the New England Learning Center for Women in Transition in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Most recently, she was Director of Philanthropy at The Connection in Middletown, Connecticut.

“Sarah’s extensive experience managing grassroots nonprofit organizations and her passion for lifting up our most vulnerable and marginalized community members make her an ideal fit to lead our organization,” said Susan Romaine, Chair of PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro’s Board of Directors.
