A grant of $30,000 is being offered in Chatham County as part of an initiative to foster collaboration between local nonprofit groups according to a release from the Triangle Community Foundation.

Gina Andersen, the foundation’s community programs officer, explained that the grant is intended to “serve as a catalyst” for nonprofit groups to address local problems systemically.

The release states that groups applying for the grant must develop “a discrete project that is separate from other programs the agencies offer on a regular basis.”

These groups must also partner with at least one other group to address the designated topic of family stability, which means that the grant will only be awarded to a nonprofit coalition.

The winning coalition will have one year after receiving the grant to implement its project, with work expected to commence this July and conclude next June.

Dina Reynolds, the director of United Way of Chatham County, stated that her organization is “very excited to join with the county and the Triangle Community Foundation” in support of the grant.

Applicants are encouraged to apply before the deadline of April 13 through the foundation’s website.
