CHAPEL HILL – If your child is in need of a physical exam or vaccines, a UNC student organization has you covered.

The Student Health Action Coalition—SHAC for short—is holding two free clinics for K-12 students this September at the Carrboro Community Health Center.

Pharmacy student Lynn Truong is the co-coordinator of the clinic.

“This one specifically is for children, so anyone who needs a physical for kindergarten or elementary school. We are holding free ones and we are going to provide free vaccines,” Truong said.

SHAC is a student-run organization whose mission is to provide free health services to local individuals and communities in need. It includes students in fields ranging from medicine and public health to social work. Truong says SHAC runs four clinics each year.

Next month’s clinics will take place on Saturday, September 7 and Saturday, September 21, from 2:00-3:45 in the Carrboro Community Health Center at 301 Lloyd Street. To make an appointment, call SHAC at 919-843-6841 and mention the SHAC Well Child Clinic.
