GoTriangle president and CEO Jeff Mann will be leaving his role at the regional transit authority.

The decision comes “after an intense 18 months occupied quite a bit of his time,” according to a memo sent by GoTriangle Board of Trustees chair Ellen Reckhow.

Mann has been at the helm of GoTriangle through the final efforts to push the Durham – Orange Light Rail Transit line forward, before the votes were finally held earlier this year to discontinue work on the project.

“For the past four years, Jeff has served as a strong leader through some challenging situations, as well as some significant triumphs for GoTriangle and our region,” Reckhow wrote.

Despite the light rail setback, Wednesday’s memo noted that Mann’s tenure saw GoTriangle receive a federal grant for electric buses and funding for the Raleigh Union Station Bus project.

“Through the good times and the tough ones, Jeff and his team have worked closely and diligently with our board. We sincerely appreciate all of his hard work, his leadership and his dedication to a shared regional vision for transit.”

Mann is leaving “to pursue other opportunities and to spend more time with his family,” according to Reckhow. Mann will serve as CEO through July 31, before remaining in an advisory role through August 31.

“And we hope he will also continue to play a leadership role in the commuter-rail project,” Reckhow wrote.

GoTriangle general counsel Shelley Blake will take over as interim CEO on August 1.
