CHAPEL HILL – Three people added their names to the growing election ballot that will be printed for November to choose 13 officials in Orange County.
Another Chapel Hill Town Council hopeful added his name to the list on day two of the local elections filing period, and it’s another name that’s showed previous interest, while another incumbent added his name to the list.
Paul Neebe is a real estate broker, a university instructor, and a Juilliard-trained, internationally recognized classical trumpeter. He’s lived in Chapel Hill for thirty years and currently serves on the town’s Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Board. That term expires June 30, 2014.
Neebe applied for the open seat Penny Rich left for the Orange County Board of Commissioners, which was filled by Sally Greene who filed for reelection on Friday.
Mayor Pro Tem Ed Harrison announced Monday on Facebook that he filed for reelection. His filing was done in Durham County as he is a resident of the part of the town that is in the county adjacent to Orange. Harrison will seek his fourth term on the Council.
Four seats are up for grabs on the Council in November as Gene Pease and Laurin Easthom are not running for re-election and current council member Sally Greene is seeking re-election along with Harrison.
Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board Chair, Michelle Brownstein—who serves as the board’s chair—also filed for reelection on Monday. Brownstein was elected in 2009 for a four-year term.
