Commissioner Mark Dorosin will take over as vice chair for the Orange County Board of Commissioners, replacing Commissioner Bernadette Pelissier.
Dorosin was unanimously approved by the board in their meeting on Monday evening.
“It’s the first time the word ‘vice’ has been associated with my name in a positive way,” Dorosin said. “I will do my best to help the leadership and help us move together collectively to achieve our vision of inclusion, social justice and equality.”
Commissioner Earl McKee will retain his spot as the chairman of the board. He was elected chairman for 2015 and will continue to serve in that position for 2016.
Pelissier has served as both chair and vice chair and recently announced she would not be running for re-election in 2016.
Commissioner Renee Price was unanimously approved to represent Orange County in the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners and the National Association of Counties.
“You have served in this position for several years and served us well,” McKee told Price. “We look forward to your leadership in that area.”
Price said these two organizations do many different things to help the community.
“We do a lot of great work,” she said. “An initiative to keep mental health out of our prisons and working to raise the minimum wage or at least to ensure that young people or adults who have been displaced have jobs.”
The board also unanimously approved to keep county clerk Donna Baker, county manager Bonnie Hammersly and county attorney John Roberts in their respective positions.
