Future development of the approximately 40-acre Lloyd Farm property in west Carrboro will go back before the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday night.

The board voted down a proposed project in December 2016 after more than five years in the planning process.

The plan called for a mixed-use project anchored by a grocery store.

Concerns over flooding, traffic and whether that was the type of development that would best fit the town’s goals drew concerns from residents and elected officials alike. The board ultimately voted the proposal down by a 5-2 vote, which came after the developer had gone through mediation in hopes of bringing forward a favorable project.

Board member Damon Seils said at that December meeting that officials were aware something would be developed on the property, but that did not mean he had to support the proposal as it was presented.

The agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting says the board will hold a work session to “discuss development options” for the property.

Tuesday’s meeting is set for 7:30 in Carrboro Town Hall.
