Hog Day has finally returned. Following its cancellation back in January after running for over 30 years, Orange County residents have succeeded in making efforts to bring this festival back to the community.
Former Executive Director of the Hillsborough and Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Craig Lloyd, has worked with a group of volunteers for several months to revive the county-wide event.
“We formed an Orange County Optimist Club to be a host to all of this, and are very excited about it,” says Lloyd. “We had some wonderful outpouring of support from sponsors, from volunteers, and participants.”
Thanks to their hard work and desire to answer the public outcry, Hog Day will take place once again on June 20th and 21st.
Lloyd is also proud to announce the theme for this year’s event.
“We call it ‘Bringing Home the Bacon,’ because it is 100% developed and produced by local volunteers and people that have been involved with Hog Day since its inception,” says Lloyd.
It is set to be held at the Efland Ruritan Club at 3106 Highway 70 West in Efland.
