CARRBORO – Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton is getting roasted and toasted to celebrate his 20 years of activism in the community.
The Carrboro Board of Aldermen and EmPOWERment, Inc. are hosting the event set for 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
EmPOWERment, Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to educate the community about affordable housing and promotes grassroots economic development.

Serving as Mayor of Carrboro since 2005, this year marks the end of his fourth and final term. He was elected to the Chapel Hill Town Council in 1991 as the youngest ever elected official in North Carolina at the age of 21.
In 2000, Chilton became the Executive Director of EmPOWERment, Inc. and served in the position for two years. He continues to work with the organization as Director of Special Programs.
The roast is being held at the Century Center at 100 N. Greensboro St. in Carrboro.
