CHAPEL HILL – The 2013 municipal and school board elections are five weeks away from Tuesday, and Monday WCHL will start to bring you one-on-one conversations with the candidates.

Twenty-four people are vying for 15 seats—three of which are all but wrapped up as the Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough mayoral races are uncontested.

During the Morning News from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and the Afternoon and Evening News from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. weekdays, tune in to hear the local candidates. Once the interviews have aired, you can find the full interviews and more information on our website, Chapelboro.com.

WCHL is also brining you this year’s candidate forums. It all begins on Monday, October 14, as we host the four candidates for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board from 3-4 p.m. and the nine candidates for Chapel Hill Town Council from 7-9 p.m. Then on Monday, October 21 from 7-9 p.m., we welcome the five candidates for Carrboro Board of Aldermen.

Finally, on Election Day Eve, Monday, November 4, from 3-4 p.m., we’ll host Chapel Hill’s Mark Kleinschmidt, Hillsborough’s Tom Stevens, and Carrboro’s Lydia Lavelle–all running unopposed for mayor–for a special conversation about the future of the three towns in the next two years and beyond.

All four forums will take place here at WCHL Studios and broadcast live.
