Staples Inc. has contacted Chapel Hill shoppers to let them know their credit card information may have been compromised in a December data hack.

115 stores were targeted across the nation, including the location at 1710 East Franklin Street. Officials says shoppers who visited the store between August 10 and September 16, 2014 may be at risk.

In a letter to customers, the office supply chain said it’s offering a variety of services including identity theft protection, credit monitoring and free credit reports to anyone who may have used a credit card at the store during that timespan.

Staples estimates as many as 1.6 million credit cards may have been compromised as a result of the breach. For information on how to sign up for free credit monitoring, click here.
