This weekend, downtown Carrboro hosts the 2014 West End Poetry Festival , bringing together local poets along with nationally known writers.
The event gets under way on Friday at 6:30 with a reception and a reading at Flyleaf Books – but the big event is Saturday, from noon to 8:30, at Carrboro’s Century Center. On the agenda are workshops, panel sessions, an open mic, another reception, and finally, a reading featuring former North Carolina poet laureate Cathy Smith Bowers and Carrboro’s current poet laureate, Celisa Steele.
