Speaking of Schools: Kim Jones, LaTekka Lewis and Madeline Blobe

The Hill News Director Brighton McConnell visited with three area teachers on Monday, March 27th for this month's Teacher Feature.  Veteran PE Teacher at Rashkis Elementary Michell Wood, Gifted Education Specialist at McDougle Elementary School Megan Thacker McDonnell, and Gifted Education Specialist at Culbreth Middle School Seema Anand all shared their experiences.

On this month's Teacher Feature, educators Kathi Breweur, Robert Ballard and Travis Adkison join 97.9 The Hill's Brighton McConnell to share details on their stand-out CTE programs offered at Chapel Hill High School.

For the June Teacher Feature, two key members of CHCCS' summer programming join 97.9 The Hill's Brighton McConnell. Scott Fearrington (CHCCS Director of Community Schools) and Loree Perry (Assistant Director of Child Nutrition for Chartwells) team up with Public School Foundation's Nancy Zeman to discuss what the district has to offer when school is out.

The Hill's Brighton McConnell is joined by graduating Chapel Hill High School seniors Karina Bautista, NaTasja Jeter and Sol Ramirez, a trio scholarship recipients from the Public School Foundation. Bautista, Jeter and Ramirez share their emotions around the awards and moving on to college, while Scholarship Coordinator Pam Reed shares details on the organization's scholarship opportunities.

For the March Teacher Feature, 97.9 The Hill's Brighton McConnell is joined by Carrboro Elementary teacher Deborah Cox, Chapel Hill High School teacher Brian Wasson and the Public School Foundation's Nancy Zeman. Cox and Wasson share exciting projects they're doing in the classroom thanks to grants provided by PSF, while Zeman shares ways people can help fund such programs.

For this month's Teacher Feature, we hear from some social workers in the CHCCS district! Allison Crosetto of Phillips Middle School, Jackie Love from Seawell Elementary School and CHCCS Director of Mental Health and Wellness Janet Cherry join 97.9 The Hill to share their experiences in the district and what drives them to help our community.

On November's Speaking of Schools Teacher Feature, Scroggs Elementary School fifth grade teacher Jasmine Johnson joins 97.9 The Hill's Brighton McConnell to share details on her virtual reality elements of teaching. Plus: CHCCS Principal of the Year Crystal Epps shares her perspective on how Johnson's projects are helping student engagement.

For this month's Teacher Feature on Speaking of Schools, several educators in the CHCCS Newcomer Program speak with 97.9 The Hill. Newcomer teachers Angela McChesney and Ka Yi share their experiences working with students who learning English as their second language, while parent liaison Zaida Walker shares details on the program's success and importance.

On the first ever Teacher Feature on Speaking of Schools, Chapel Hill High School arts teacher Paul Estrada joins 97.9 The Hill's Brighton McConnell to share his story and classroom projects.
