As discussions around diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in higher education continue around Chapel Hill, Jeffrey Billman of The Assembly joins 97.9 The Hill’s Brighton McConnell on Friday, May 17. UNC-Chapel Hill’s trustees recently voted to divert all DEI funding to campus police efforts ahead of an expected change in policy by the UNC System Board of Governors. Billman details an interview he recently had with BOG member Woody White, who laid out his reasonings for wanting to cut such DEI efforts and his view of racial relations. He shares impressions from the conversation and connections to rhetoric being used by conservative lawmakers across the state and country.
