Radio City Music Patio at University Place, Chapel Hill
Blue Cactus, the North Carolina duo of Steph Stewart and Mario Arnez, make Cosmic Americana: a blend of grit, glitz, groove, and twang that evokes a celestial soundscape of mid-century heartbreak.
Following their critically acclaimed 2017 debut and a string of singles in 2020 their evolution is made plain on their sophomore LP, Stranger Again, released May 7, 2021 on Sleepy Cat Records. The album has received enthusiastic attention from tastemakers including No Depression, American Songwriter, FLOOD Magazine, Talkhouse, and INDY Week among others.

Live and Local Live presents Jonathan Byrd
Radio City Music Patio at University Place, Chapel Hill
Jonathan Byrd is a seventh generation North Carolinian, preacher’s son, a Gulf War veteran, and an award-winning songwriter from Chapel Hill, NC. He is known for literary, outsider songs that have become campfire favorites. The Chicago Tribune called Byrd “one of the top 50 songwriters of the past 50 years,” a list which includes giants like Bob Dylan, John Prine, and Joni Mitchell.
“Sly, subversive and able to say more in two words than most other people can say in a novel, Byrd is clearly one of the tent poles of contemporary folk music. He sounds like he’s straight from the back porch but he’s taken a long, hard look at life and knows how to bring it into focus.” – Chris Spector, Midwest Record

Live and Local Live presents the Shoaldiggers
Radio City Music Patio at University Place, Chapel Hill
The Shoaldiggers‘ hot & spicy music has earned many tasty monikers – Swampgrass, Gypsy Acoustic, Acid Jug Band, Honky Tonk, gritty and down and dirty Americana, old fashioned and modern. They bring the Piratebilly sound and you best bring your dancin’ shoes because iconic local venues say “these cats work, play and laugh harder than any crew we know!”
Their music is alive with wild and ancient sounds, civilized just enough for time and tune. They weave beautiful lyrics together with creative arrangements to create feelings of nostalgia and excitement. No matter what imagery they conjure up for you, it is definitely a place you’ll want to visit.
