The UNC basketball is still No. 2 in the nation, according to the AP.
The new poll was released on Monday.
Oklahoma remained on top.
The Tar Heels did land at the top spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Tar Heels improved to 18-2 for the season and 7-0 in the ACC last week. Carolina started the week with a 83-68 win over Wake Forest and closed it out with a 75-70 victory over Virginia Tech.
No. 1, Oklahoma, lost to Iowa State on Monday, but retained the top spot. It was a tough week for the AP Top 25. Carolina was only one team in the Top 5 to not lose a game in the week. Fifteen of the top 25 teams lost last week.
Despite the two wins and current 11-game winning streak, there is reason for concern. The UNC basketball team had to hold on in a nail-biter against Virginia Tech, a game that saw a Tar Heel lead of 20 points in the first half.
Senior guard Marcus Paige also continued to struggle. Paige, the senior guard who came into Sunday shooting a combined 3-for-25 from the field with eight points over the past three games, finished with just seven points and made just two of his 10 shots.
But, Page did sink two crucial free throws at the end of the Virginia Tech game to seal it for the Tar Heels.
It was another strong week for Brice Johnson, however. The senior forward averaged 23 points and 14 rebounds against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.
Six ACC teams are in the AP Top 25. In addition to the Tar Heels, Virginia is No. 11, Miami is No. 15, Louisville is No. 16, Duke is No. 24, and Notre Dame is No. 25.
