Matt Hughes, chair of the Orange County Democratic Party, has officially filed to be a candidate for the at-large seat on the Orange County Board of Commissioners up for election next year.

Board vice chair Bernadette Pelissier announced earlier this year she would not seek re-election to the seat.

Andy Cagle, who ran unsuccessfully for Sheriff in 2014, has also filed for the at-large seat.

Mark Marcoplos has announced his intentions to run for the spot on the county commissioners but has not officially filed.

Three other seats on the board will be voted on next year. Mark Dorosin and Penny Rich have each filed for re-election to their District 1 seats. No challengers have filed.

Primary voters will have a race to sort out in District 2 where Bonnie Hauser has filed to run against incumbent Renee Price.

Filing runs through noon on December 21.

Early voting for the primary will be held March 3 – March 12, with the primary election on March 15.
