Chapel Hill: Bus Rapid Transit Money, LUMO, Budget

Chapel Hill Mayor Jess Anderson spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Thursday, March 14. She discussed the latest Chapel Hill Town Council meeting. Included in that discussion is an update on the town’s Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO), the latest on the upcoming budget, and more. Orange County: Emergency Services Awards, Advisory Board Updates, Runoff Election in May

Chair of the Orange County Commissioners Jamezetta Bedford spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Wednesday, March 13. She discussed the Orange County Emergency Services Awards and promotions from Wednesday morning. She also discussed the board of commissioners most recent meeting, where there heard updates from several advisory boards and commissions. She also gave an update on the Lumos broadband Internet rollout, the budget for the upcoming runoff election for Orange County School Board, and more.

Hillsborough: No Urban Archery, Delay on Blasts Near I-40, Upcoming Climate Action Passport

Hillsborough Mayor Mark Bell spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Tuesday, March 12. He discussed the town council’s thinking on “urban archery,” and their decision not to pursue that option for controlling the deer population. He also talked about the delay of the blasting that was to temporarily close I-40 earlier this week. He concluded with a preview of an upcoming Climate Action Passport program coming to Hillsborough, and more.

Carrboro: Parking Study, Resolution Against Femicide, Community Surveys

Carrboro Mayor Barbara Foushee spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Andrew Stuckey on Friday, March 8. She discussed results of a 2023 parking study that was shared with the council by town Economic Development Director Jon Hartman-Brown. She also discussed a recent resolution from the town in conjunction with El Centro Hispano raising awareness about femicide. She discussed an upcoming survey about the community that will be going out to 2,000 residents soon. She also talked about some upcoming community events and more.

Chapel Hill: More Money for Parking Deck, Reimagining Advisory Boards, Renaming Streets

That includes allocating an additional $3 million for the East Rosemary parking deck. She also discussed reimagining how advisory boards are organized in town government. She discussed the results of Tuesday night’s primary election in North Carolina and Orange County, including the race for a seat on the Orange County Board of Commissioners. She previewed the upcoming commissioners meeting, where the commissioners will consider the WASMPAA agreement as Chapel Hill looks to extend water and sewer service south to the Chatham County Line.
