The CAROLINA FOOTBALL BLUE RIDGE BREAKAWAY GIVEAWAY Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by Chapel Hill Media Group; 97.9 The Hill WCHL; Chapelboro,com; The Casual Pint; Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership (aka East Franklin Street); Craftboro Brewing Depot; the Europa Center; F&F Automotive; Guv’s Burger & Tap; Ignite Wellness Chiropractic Center; Imbibe Restaurant; Louise Beck Properties; Mill House Properties; NC Farm Bureau Agent Robbie Norris; Pam Herndon State Farm; People’s Coffee; Sheraton Hotel; Town Hall Burger and Beer Briar Chapel; and Town Hall Grill Southern Village (collectively, “Sponsors”).
2) Contest is offered only to legal U.S. residents 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Contest is offered only to North Carolina residents. Employees, volunteers, agents, and on-air personalities of 97.9 The Hill WCHL, Chapelboro.com, and Sponsors listed above, their parent, subsidiary, and affiliated companies, and their advertising or promotional agencies (collectively, the “Contest Entities”), and the immediate families or members of the same households of such individuals are not eligible.* No groups, clubs, or organizations may participate in this Contest or reproduce or distribute any portion of these rules to their members. Proof of age, identity, and eligibility must be furnished to Sponsors upon request. Sponsors will not award a prize to any one not meeting eligibility requirements at the time of entry. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any entrant if these Contest rules are not followed. Winner and winner’s guest must be able to travel to Blowing Rock, NC on Friday, September 2nd, 2022, and return on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, to redeem prize.
*Immediate family defined as spouse, parents and grandparents, children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, mother in law and father in law, brother in law and sister in law, daughter in law and son in law, as well as adopted, half, and step members.
3) How To Enter. The Contest entry period begins Friday, June 24, 2022, and ends Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11:59PM (“Contest Period”). To enter for a chance to become a finalist and for a chance to win, entrants must submit an entry in any of the following ways: (1) visit any of the sponsor locations listed at the bottom of these Contest Rules and complete and submit an entry form through one of the entry boxes at the location; (2) Use the QR Code entry method as indicated on posters at businesses on East Franklin Street, listed at the bottom of these Contest Rules; (3) complete and submit the online entry form at Chapelboro.com/BlueRidgeBreakaway. Eligible participants can enter to win a maximum of one time per week each week (Friday-Thursday) during the Contest Period through each of the entry methods listed above (i.e. each participant may enter via every aforementioned entry option up to once a week). Participants may be selected more than one time as a finalist.
Entries not received by the entry deadline, July 28, 2022, at 11:59PM are ineligible. Sponsors will not verify receipt of entries. Entries become property of Sponsors and will not be returned. Incomplete entries are void. All information provided in an entry must be complete and accurate. Sponsors are not responsible for entries that are lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, incomprehensible, illegible, damaged, undeliverable or delayed. Photocopied and mechanically generated entries are void. Entries generated by any automated means are void. Electronic and e-mail entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address at the time of the entry. The authorized account holder is the person to whom the applicable internet service provider or other organization (such as a business or educational institution) has assigned the e-mail address. By entering, participants agree to comply with all applicable law and these Contest Rules, and you agree to abide by all decisions of the Sponsors. By entering, participants agree to allow 97.9 The Hill WCHL, Chapelboro.com, and/or Sponsors the right without further consideration to use Winner’s name, likeness, photograph, municipality of residence, recorded voice, biographical material for an unlimited period of time and in any medium which 97.9 The Hill WCHL or Chapelboro.com may deem appropriate (including without limitation, radio broadcasts, newspapers and other publications and in television or film releases, slides, videotape, distribution over the internet and picture data storage) in order to advertise, promote or publicize 97.9 The Hill WCHL, Chapelboro.com, and/or the products and services of any of the Sponsors.
4) How to Win and Odds of Winning. Each week during the entry period, one (1) finalist will be randomly selected from among eligible entries received at People’s Coffee, Town Hall Burger and Beer Briar Chapel, and The Sheraton Hotel, from each of the other participating Sponsor locations with in-person entry boxes, from all eligible entries received via the QR code entry method on East Franklin Street, and from all eligible entries received on Chapelboro.com. Weekly entry periods begin on Friday and end on Thursday during the Contest Period (June 24, 2022 – July 28, 2022). Drawings to select finalists will be held each Friday, with the first finalist drawing held on July 1 and the last on July 28. Finalists’ names will be posted on Chapelboro.com within 48 business hours after selection (i.e. the first week’s finalists will be posted online by Monday, July 4).* Selected finalists will also be notified by email or phone at the address/number provided in the entry.
Up to 80 finalists will be randomly selected. (1) finalist will be randomly selected from among eligible entries received at People’s Coffee, Town Hall Burger and Beer Briar Chapel, and The Sheraton Hotel (5 total finalists randomly selected from People’s Coffee, Town Hall Burger and Beer Briar Chapel, and The Sheraton Hotel); (1) finalist will be randomly selected from each of the other participating Sponsor locations with in-person entry boxes (65 total finalists randomly selected from other sponsor locations and 97.9 The Hill WCHL in-person entry method during the Contest Period); (1) one finalist will be randomly selected each week from the East Franklin Street QR code entry method (5 total finalists randomly selected from QR code entry method during the Contest Period); (1) one finalist will be randomly selected each week from the website entry method (5 total finalists randomly selected from website entry method during the Contest Period); up to 80 finalists total.
*Holiday schedules may delay the posting of the first finalists by one business day.
Each finalist will be invited to the final drawing party on Monday, August 8th at The Casual Pint, 201 S Elliott Rd Suite 51, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. To be eligible, finalists must register at the drawing party at the registration booth between 6:30pm and 7:15pm. Elimination rounds to select the winner run from approximately 7:30pm to 8:30pm. FINALISTS MUST BE PRESENT AT THE DRAWING PARTY TO WIN. No stand ins permitted. Finalists must register BEFORE 7:15pm. All finalists who register their attendance on time will be handed a card with the number in which they registered as well as be given a ping pong ball with the same number printed on it that they will place into the drum. Elimination will then proceed in three rounds.

Round One: 20 balls will be randomly drawn out of the drum, the names corresponding to the numbers on the balls will be read out loud and cards numbered 1 through 20 will be handed to the finalists in order as they are drawn from the drum. Those first 20 people will become the semi-finalists and will proceed to Round Two. Those whose names were not called are no longer eligible for a chance to win. (FINALISTS CAN ONLY BE DRAWN ONCE IN ROUND ONE, EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY HAVE MULTIPLE NUMBERED BALLS IN THE DRUM FROM BEING A FINALISTS MULTIPLE TIMES, THEY CANNOT BE A FINALIST MORE THAN ONCE IN ROUND TWO – ROUND TWO MUST CONSIST OF TWENTY DIFFERENT FINALISTS)
Round Two: 10 finalists will be selected.
Round Three: 2 finalists will be selected.
Round Four: The finalist selected will be announced as the winner of the Carolina Football Blue Ridge Breakaway Giveaway.
FINALISTS MUST BE PRESENT FOR EACH ELIMINATION ROUND AND MUST BE PRESENT FOR ALL STAGES OF THE DRAWING PARTY, INCLUDING FINAL DRAWING OF THE CARD AND PRESENTATION AS THE WINNER.
Odds of becoming a finalist through the entry form methods (online and at Sponsor locations) depend on the number of eligible entries received. Odds of becoming a finalist through the call-in method of entry depend on the number of listeners participating and the entrant’s ability to timely respond to the cue to call. Odds of a finalist becoming the winner are at least 1 out of 70.
5) Prizes. One (1) winner will be offered the following prize: (1) ONE ROOM for TWO (2) night stay at Hellbender Bed and Beverage; Dinner for TWO (2) at Gideon Ridge Inn (valued at $250); (1) ONE $50 gift card to help with travel; ONE (1) $50 gift card to The Cardinal Restaurant in Boone; ONE (1) Carolina swag pack from Carolina Corner (value of $150); TWO (2) tickets to the North Carolina vs Appalachian State football game on September 3, 2022; Round-trip gameday transportation from campus to and from the game. Total approximate retail value of prize is $2,215.90.
To claim prize, Winner and Winner’s guest must visit 97.9 The Hill WCHL’s main studio at University Place, 201 South Estes Drive, Suite C6A, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, no later than August 22, 2022 at 3pm ET and (1) provide valid driver’s licenses, military identifications, or state identification cards, and (2) execute a declaration of eligibility and liability and publicity release for the winner. Winner’s guests must also execute liability and publicity release when Winner claims prize. If any Winner’s guest is under the age of 18 years old at the time prize is awarded, the parent or legal guardian of that Winner’s guest must execute a liability and publicity release on behalf of such guest. Once submitted, names cannot be changed. Winner may be required to provide his/her Social Security Number for tax purposes. Prizes are non-transferable by Winner and may not be redeemed for cash. The Winner and one guest must be available to travel via their own method of transportation to Blowing Rock, NC on September 2nd and return on September 4th. The grand-prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash value. Winner and Winner’s guest responsible for providing valid identification and any other credentials necessary to redeem prize.
All charges, fees and costs not specifically included in the prize descriptions above, including but not limited to personal incidental items, taxes, souvenirs, tips, and delivery are the responsibility of the Winner. Any expenses not expressly listed as part of the contest prize shall be sole financial responsibility of the prize winner and the prize winner shall not seek reimbursement for same from 97.9 The Hill WCHL, Chapelboro.com, or any of the respective promotional partners. 97.9 The Hill WCHL and Chapelboro.com is not responsible for missed games due to transportation delays or scheduling of games by tournament organizers.
6) Terms and Conditions; Limitation of Liability. Participants are responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and with these Contest Rules, and by entering, participants agree to be bound to these Contest Rules. Any security breach or other attempt by an entrant or other party to tamper with the proper administration of the Contest will disqualify the entrant and may result in civil or criminal action against the entrant or other party and may result in the discontinuation, suspension, or cancellation of the Contest. Winner(s), winner’s guest(s) (if any), and entrants agree, except where prohibited by law, to release and discharge, hold harmless and indemnify the Contest Entities, their employees, agents and representatives, officers and directors and their immediate families, successors and assigns, and all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest, from any and all tax liability that may be imposed or associated with receipt or use of the prizes, and from and against any and all claims, actions, proceedings, and liability for any damages, expenses, fees, injury or losses (INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH) sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize or while traveling to, preparing for, or participating in any Contest-related or prize-related activity. By entering the Contest or by winning, participants grant to the Contest Entities the right to publicize in any media worldwide and in perpetuity the participant’s name, photograph, image, likeness, voice, statements, and biographical information for advertising, trade, and promotion purposes without compensation and without opportunity for review, except where prohibited by law. A parent or legal guardian of winner(s) under the age of 18 will also be required to execute a declaration of eligibility and liability and publicity release on behalf of the minor child. Sponsors retain the discretion to make all decisions regarding the interpretation and application of these rules. All decisions of Sponsors are final and discretionary. In the event the selected winner(s) of the prize are/is ineligible or refuse(s) the prize or in the event the prize is forfeited for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and Sponsors, in their sole discretion, may randomly select an alternate winner from remaining entries. The laws of the State of North Carolina shall govern this Contest, without regard to North Carolina’s choice of law rules. The courts of North Carolina and Orange County shall be the exclusive forum for any dispute relating to these Rules and/or this Contest. All participants and winner(s) agree, by their participation in the Contest, to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts of North Carolina. For prizes valued at $600 or greater, winner must provide his or her Social Security Number for tax purposes. Prizes may be considered income, and any and all taxes associated with prizes, except as explicitly described above, are responsibility of winner.

Contest Entities, their affiliated, parent, and subsidiary companies, their employees, agents and officers, advertising and promotion agencies, and all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest are not responsible for: (1) problems associated with television transmission, radio transmission, cable transmission, satellite transmission, phone lines, facsimile, or cable lines and/or phone or IP numbers that are beyond their control—this includes, but is not limited to: a busy signal, operator interference, cellular interference, Internet congestion, technical or atmospheric conditions that disrupt a phone call, facsimile transmission, email transmission, or any other transmission, cable modem service, or other Internet interruptions or malfunctions or for technical or other difficulties that may prohibit, prevent, or interfere with the transmission of television or radio signals to all or limited geographic areas during the Contest or that may prohibit, prevent, or interfere with the acquisition, completion, or submission of an entry; failures of or other problems relating to telephone, cellphone or other device or computer hardware, software, the Internet, or similar systems, including but not limited to difficulties relating to contestants’ ISP, DSL, telephone, or cable modem access, “worms,” or viruses; (2) typographical errors in any materials relating to the Contest; (3) lost, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, or delayed entries; (4) cancellations, postponements, or delays; (5) Acts of God, war, terrorism, government regulation, disaster, fire, strikes, civil disorder, or other similar causes beyond the control of the Contest Entities, their affiliated, parent, and subsidiary companies, advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate assigns, making it inadvisable, illegal, impossible, or impractical to continue the Contest or to perform under these Rules.
