The North Carolina General Assembly continues its political shenanigans and disregard for our state’s most vulnerable children and young adults.  The airspace this week has been filled with all the news about the $248 million it has appropriated for Opportunity Scholarships to help pay for private school tuition for families on a waitlist.

Since publication of this submission, a court has summarily dismissed all of Rebecca Fox’s claims and shown CHCCS acted according to best practices and principles.

You (or someone you know) may consider yourself “pro-life” and hesitate voting for a candidate who supports women’s reproductive rights that include abortion. Consider the deeper meaning of “pro-life.”

Now that summer temps are starting to cool down, migratory songbirds and shorebirds are beginning their journeys south to their wintering grounds in Central and South America.  Most birds fly at night, using the stars to navigate.  But, unfortunately, our Town lights can quickly disorient them causing them to veer off course and sometimes fall to their deaths after striking brightly lit buildings.
