Orange County CROWN Act Expands Non-Discrimination Ordinances to Natural Hair

Orange County government passed the CROWN Act banning discrimination based on a person’s hair texture or hairstyle, especially those associated with a particular race, religion, or national origin. CROWN is an acronym standing for “create a respectful and open world for natural hair.” The Orange County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed adopting language from the act to update its non-discrimination ordinance.

Orange County Mobility On Demand Will Provide Transportation for Hillsborough Residents

Orange County Public Transportation is launching a Mobility On Demand program on Friday. The program will provide rides to Hillsborough residents throughout the town and to Eubanks Park-and-Ride in Chapel Hill. Operating similarly to ride share apps Lyft and Uber, users will be able to request same-day rides throughout Hillsborough using the app TransLoc.

UNC and Duke Rivals Unite to Fund New Metastatic Breast Cancer Research

The Susan G. Komen Metastatic Breast Cancer Research Initiative is working to raise one million dollars to find treatments and cures for metastatic breast cancer. With $100,000 dollars to go, the initiative is calling on Tar Heel and Blue Devil fans to step up with their program Blues Unite – a fundraising campaign uniting UNC and Duke fans throughout the rivalry season.
