Art Chansky's Notebook

Chansky’s Notebook: The Bennett ‘Shocker’

In the context of the shifting college sports landscape, it’s not shocking that 55-year-old Tony Bennett has suddenly retired at Virginia.

Art Chansky shares his thoughts on Vince Carter’s Hall of Fame induction and heartfelt speech during Sunday’s ceremony.

Art Chansky writes that while UNC-Memphis on Tuesday was an exhibition, it will be a game people talk about for a long time.

However long he coaches the Tar Heels, Mack Brown should remain at the University in some capacity with the students, athletes and/or alumni.

While Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels have justified their NFL draft picks, UNC’s golden boy Drake Maye got his first chance on Sunday.

Mack Brown was crying after the 41-34 shocker to Georgia Tech — but he was weeping about losing one of his former players and team leaders.

Georgia Tech has beaten UNC in three straight meetings, each time turning a potential great season into something less.

If UNC can find the right young football coach, he will have plenty to work with. That can be credited to Mack Brown’s second tenure.

UNC is now in the shadow of Duke’s NIL success, which has helped the Blue Devils continue signing 5-starbasketball classes.

It’s almost as if Mack Brown is resigned to letting the season play out or has decided, amidst the mounting criticism, that this is his last.
