North Carolina senior guard Marcus Paige has been named ACC Player of the Week for his performance for the Tar Heels against Maryland and Davidson.

The top-10 showdown with Maryland last Tuesday was Paige’s first game of the season, after missing the first six contests with a broken hand.

Paige scored 20 points for the then-No. 9 Tar Heels in the 89-81 victory over second-ranked Maryland.

Paige scored 13 points and dished out four assists in Carolina’s 98-65 win over Davidson, on Sunday.

This is the fifth time Paige has been named ACC Player of the Week, tying Michael Jordan. The previous four times were during Paige’s sophomore season. Mike O’Koren also won the conference honors five times during his career.

Paige still trails Phil Ford (6), Tyler Hansbrough (10) and Antawn Jamison (12) on the Tar Heel list, according to UNC.

Carolina, ranked third in the latest AP Poll, will be back in action on Saturday at the University of Texas.
