The Carrboro Jaguars Girl’s Soccer team is the 2015 2-A State Champion.

The Jaguars knocked off Forbush High School by a score of 2-1 in an overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon on NC State’s campus.

As regulation play concluded with the score still knotted at zero, the Jaguars and Falcons went into a relative goal-scoring frenzy in overtime.

Carrboro got on the scoreboard first, before quickly giving up only their second goal of the season which tied the score at one heading into the second overtime period.

With six minutes remaining Carrboro Sophomore Miah Araba scored a scorcher of a goal from well outside the 18-yard box to secure the Jaguar’s second state title in four years. Araba was named MVP of the championship game.

The Jaguars finished the season undefeated with a record of 21-0-1 – with the lone tie coming to the larger division 3-A Chapel Hill Tigers on April 10.
