Today is Thursday, May 19, 2016.  A man pretends to be a senator.  A viral birth video on Facebook.  A sticky Google car.

Pretending to be a Senator

Who would want to pretend to be a United States Senator?

A Florida man has been accused of impersonating a senator to get out of paying his home loan.  A grand jury inducted 67-year-old Sidney Hines on five counts of impersonating a federal officer or employee.  Hine faces up to 15 years in prison.

When he reportedly failed to make payments on his loan, a collections agency started calling.  Hines claimed to be a senator from Illinois.  In the indictment, he was identified as “R.D.”  Illinois’ senators during that time period were Richard “Dick” Durbin and Mark Kirk.

A Viral Birth Video

Kali Kanongata recorded a video of his partner giving birth.  The intention was to share the video with friends and family.

But, thousands watched on Facebook.  More than 120,000 people have watched the birth of his son on Facebook.  Watch it here.

Sticky Google

Google has self-driving cars.  Now, those cars have a new safety measure.

If a pedestrian gets hit by a the car, the pedestrian will get stuck to the car.  A new patent will provide a protective coating on the car’s hood, front bumper, and front side panels.  The coating would act like flypaper.

Google says that injuries come not just from the initial impact, but also from the secondary impact (when they hit the road or another car).   See the patent application.
