The first Meadowmont Village Festival, a day-long family event of music, games, food and shopping, will be held Saturday, November 16, in the village square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Highlighting the event is a Village Parade led by the Bulltown Strutters, a Durham band inspired by the tradition of New Orleans street bands. The parade begins at 2 p.m. and all family members are invited to join in.
At 11 a.m., the Happymess Art Bus and Kidzu Children’s Museum will be on-site so parade participants can decorate themselves for the big event or they can bring their favorite wheels — bicycles, wagons, pedal cars, scooters –decorate them and ride with the Strutters as they march the streets of Meadowmont.
Events planned for the Festival include:
— Live music from Big Fat Gap and The Party Nuts
— Virtuoso jump rope exhibition by Durham’s World Champion Bouncing Bulldogs.
— Fire and Police Department displays with on-site vehicles
— FREE Raffle with lots of great prizes
The Village Festival is one in a series of Meadowmont community events. Past events have included Family Night at the Movies and Music in the Meadow, a live family concert.
