5/6/19 – Laura Branigan “Gloria”
Remember Laura Branigan? I haven’t thought of her in a very long time until this morning when I woke up with her signature song playing in my head.
Laura Branigan was a big star! An accomplished singer/songwriter, and sometimes even an actress. She had a huge hit with a song called “GLORIA” in 1982, which stayed on the charts for an amazing 36 weeks.
5/7/19 – Paul Simon “You Can Call Me Al”
It’s not unusual for me to get a song stuck in my head—it happens at the very least, once a day—and often, I have no idea how it got there. I know the origin of this one, though, because I was driving home to grab a quick bite for lunch a little before 12 noon yesterday, when Nicki Morse played it on her show. It was Paul Simon and I cranked it up loud. Paul usually tells a story in his songs, and if you listen closely to the words, you’ll be entertained.
5/8/19 – The Black Crowes “Remedy”
I’m not surprised to have THIS song pounding away in my brain this morning, because I just listened to it a couple of days ago in my car. It’s THE BLACK CROWES with a good rocker called “REMEDY!” It’s one of my favorite rock and roll bands, and they have an album, “The Southern Harmony & Musical Companion,” that is just golden from one song to the next.
5/9/19 – Fleetwood Mac “The Chain”
It’s one of my favorite songs…from one of my favorite bands…and as great as the studio version of the song is, it takes on a whole new life in a live recording I’ve been listening to a lot lately. The song is “The Chain,” one of my all-time favorite songs, by Fleetwood Mac. It’s different from anything else the band ever did, because it’s the only one credited to all 5 members of the group.
5/10/19 – The Intruders “I’ll Always Love My Mama”
Mother’s Day, of course, is coming up on Sunday, and I hope you’re planning to spend some time with your mom, if you’re lucky enough to still have her around…and it’s a good time to be thinking about the ones who have passed on. Mothers are very special people. Same goes for not only YOUR Mom, but other mothers and grandmothers in your life. Wives, sisters, daughters, and the list goes on.
