The two-hour weekly radio show, “Inside Carolina Live,” returns September 3 for a new season with a live broadcast from 3-5 p.m. in an indoor/outdoor setting at Old East Tavern in the East 54 development off Raleigh Road in Chapel Hill. Serving elevated food, fine wine, craft beer and craft cocktails, Old East Tavern is a new restaurant and bar concept from the folks who created Bottle Rev, and has six different dining areas — each with its own unique personality.

Inside Carolina Live is hosted by Tommy Ashley and Joey Powell from InsideCarolina.com, the premier website for Tar Heel sports, with unparalleled reporting and analysis on team and recruiting news, the top experts, and the biggest message board community.

The first show is open to the public at Old East Tavern, where they will offer a special Blue Ram cocktail, and will be hosted on site by Joey Powell and special guest host Jason Staples, with Tommy Ashley calling in to set the scene of UNC’s opening football game vs. Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. The show will include giveaways from Johnny T-Shirt and commentary to help kick off Carolina football season.

Co-produced by Inside Carolina and The Chapel Hill Media Group (97.9 The Hill WCHL and Chapelboro.com) Inside Carolina Live covers Carolina football and basketball through live interviews with reporters, personalities, and former players, and airs on 97.9 The Hill WCHL in the greater Chapel Hill-Durham area and streams on Chapelboro.com and various streaming apps. The popular show runs on football gamedays in the fall and in a set weekly Saturday morning timeslot from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. through basketball season and up to NFL draft weekend at the end of April.
