3/25/19 – Eagles “One of These Nights”
I read somewhere a few years ago that if you say, “The Eagles,” around Don Henley, you’ll get corrected. He says it’s just “Eagles,” and there’s no “The.” Okay, Don, whatever you guys want to be called because you’ve certainly earned it. Eagles have been around since 1971. They’re a California rock band, but there’s nothing typical about them. If you’re a fan of Glen Frey, Don Henley, and the rest of the band, you know they’ve had phenomenal success over the years. And you know they’ve sold a ton of records~ 120 million-plus, to be as exact as I can! Eagles pretty much owned the 70’s, with one big hit after another for much of the decade. “Eagles’ Greatest Hits-1971-1975,” and “Hotel California” are the number 1 and number 3 best-selling albums of all time in the United States (Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is number 2.)
Eagles have claimed 6 Grammys, 5 American Music Awards, 5 number 1 singles, and a half-dozen number 1 albums. How’s that for a phenomenal track record? Rolling Stone magazine has ‘em listed at 75 on their list of “The 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time.” Why no better, Rolling Stone? 75? Are you kidding me? This group ought to be a whole lot higher on that list! The song in my head today is not really surprising. I like their music a lot. What is shocking, though, is that I have never written a column on the band before!
Enjoy The Eagles…or Eagles….whichever you prefer….and you’ll experience a great song. This is “ONE OF THESE NIGHTS” by Eagles. It’s ‘The Music In My Head.
