GREENSBORO – Carolina seniors Bryn Renner and Kareem Martin were chosen as two of the 28 football student athletes attending the 2013 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Kickoff next weekend.
Renner makes a return appearance to the ACC Kickoff while Martin makes his debut.
Earlier this week, Renner was named to the preseason watch list of the prestigious Maxwell Award that goes to the nation’s overall premier college player. A veteran signal caller who is entering his third season as the starter, Renner will have to fully master head coach Larry Fedora’s up-tempo spread offense in his final campaign for a shot at the award.
Not to be outdone, Martin is featured on multiple preseason watch lists- the Bednarik Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. These honors are given to the nation’s most outstanding defensive players at the close of the season.
A leader on the defense, Martin is Carolina’s best returning player, topping the team in tackles for loss and sacks from his position at defensive end.
The ACC Football Kickoff is July 21-22 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.
