CHAPEL HILL – Three more Tar Heels could be heading to the pros, and two of them together.

Juniors Kent Emanuel and Brian Holberton were selected by the Houston Astros while senior Cody Stubbs was chosen by the Kansas City Royals. After the first two rounds of the first-year players draft, four Tar Heels got the call to the big leagues and three of the four are juniors.

Emanuel was the first from Carolina on day two with the first pick in the third round. Stubbs was in the eighth round as the 234th overall pick. Holberton took the 257th pick in the ninth round—a choice that should make Emanuel happy to see a friendly face behind the plate in the bullpen.

It’s been four years since UNC had four players chosen in the draft.
