This Tuesday, in between voting and campaigning, take some time to stop and eat.

You’ll be doing it for a pretty good cause.

Tuesday is “RSVVP Day,” the annual event where restaurants in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro community – 103 of them this year – pledge to donate 10 percent of their proceeds for the day to the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service. (“RSVVP” stands for “Restaurants Sharing 10 Percent” – the V’s are Roman numeral 5’s.)

First started by Irene Briggaman back in 1989, RSVVP Day is still going strong in its 28th year – and along the way it’s raised nearly half a million dollars for the IFC. (Organizers are hoping to top the half-million mark this year.)

Irene Briggaman and John Dorward of the IFC stopped by WCHL Monday and discussed RSVVP Day with Aaron Keck.
