If you’d like to help shape the future of the Obey Creek property in southern Chapel Hill, the Town is accepting applications through Monday, June 10, for the Obey Creek Compass Committee. That committee will review information about the development being proposed at Obey Creek, get feedback from community members, and provide a report to the Town Council about what needs to be considered in the next phase of discussions.

Obey Creek is a 124-acre property located off 15-501 near Southern Village; town officials are considering a proposal for a large mixed-use development on the site.

The Beehive Salon in Carrboro is inviting everyone to take part in its annual art challenge: create a work of art inspired by “Curls” and bring it to the salon on Weaver Street by Saturday, June 29. All ages are encouraged to participate—and the only limitation on the artwork is that it has to fit inside the salon.

The top seven submissions (as chosen by staff) will be displayed for the rest of the summer; all seven will receive prizes, with first place winning a $100 gift certificate to the Beehive.
