CHAPEL HILL – The North Carolina Association of Broadcasters has named Ron Stutts the 2013 Personality of the Year in the small market division.

“It’s great,” Stutts says. “It’s flattering; it really is. I’m absolutely exhilarated to hear this.”

Stutts started as the WCHL Morning News host on July 11, 1977. This summer he will celebrate waking up Chapel Hill-Carrboro for 36 years.

“I guess after doing something for so long, you ought to be good at it,” Stutts says.

Aside from hosting the morning show, Stutts also produces the daily feature called the Village Pride Award where the station honors someone who has contributed to the community. He is often heard covering breaking news, weather, and sports events at any and all times of the day. On home football Saturdays, Ron can be seen and heard at a local establishment hosting Countdown to Kickoff; and before men’s basketball games, can often be heard hosting Countdown to Tipoff. Outside the walls of WCHL, he can also be seen emceeing events throughout the community all year long.

This year marks the first-annual NCAB awards.

Congratulations to Ron Stutts from everyone at WCHL and Chapelboro.com.
