Chapel Hill Police are asking for public assistance locating three suspects involved in an armed robbery of a local convenience store.

Authorities say the robbery occurred at the Speedway Gas Station on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. The store, which is south of Homestead Road, was robbed just before 10:30 last Monday night, according to police.

The suspects were described by authorities as three black males, all approximately 6 feet tall, dressed in dark clothing and wearing bandanas over their faces. One was wearing a “football-style jersey” with the number 77 on the front and back. Another suspect was described as wearing a blue jump suit with black or brown work-style boots, while a third suspect was reportedly wearing a black shirt.

One suspect displayed a handgun during the robbery, according to a release.

Two store clerks were assaulted and forced to empty the cash register. Police say approximately $700 was in the register at the time.

The suspects then fled toward the back of the store.
