Chapel Hill Police have charged a Carrboro teenager in connection with a second armed robbery from last weekend.

Police say 16-year-old Roman Gonzalez, of Jones Ferry Road in Carrboro, has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon related to an incident near Kensington Trace Condominiums on Saturday afternoon.

Gonzalez and the victim had agreed to meet at the location to complete a transaction regarding a cell phone that had been listed on Criagslist. Gonzalez then allegedly displayed a handgun and took the victim’s wallet before fleeing on foot and leaving the victim unharmed.

These charges follow Gonzalez’s arrest in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping from Friday night in Chapel Hill.

Gonzalez was given an $85,000 secured bond in connection with the most recent charges and made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities are encouraging residents to take precautions and use safe spaces when completing transactions from sites like Craigslist. Chapel Hill Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office parking lots are made available for these transactions.
