H&H Bagels, a chain of restaurants based out of New York, is planning to open its new Chapel Hill location at University Place next week.
A marketing manager for University Place confirmed to Chapelboro that the current projected opening date for the restaurant, located at 239 S. Estes Dr., Suite 101, is Dec. 1. Axios originally reported on H&H’s announcement of a Chapel Hill location in August, when it was only confirmed to be opening by the end of 2025.
The location will be the 14th H&H shop in the United States and the first in North Carolina. Chapel Hill is one of the cities in the business’ expansion plan, which includes adding several shops in Florida and southern California.

The restaurant features both an indoor dining area and an outdoor patio. Customers can order individual bagels, sandwiches, and bagels by the dozen, as well as coffee. It is located alongside other new University Place businesses within new buildings constructed apart from the traditional mall, including VEG ER (Veterinary Emergency Group) and WakeMed MyCare365. It becomes the latest breakfast and lunch option at the mall off of South Estes Drive and Fordham Boulevard — joining the Flying Biscuit Cafe, bartaco, Hawkers, Alfredo’s Pizza, Starbucks and Chick-fil-A.
As of Friday evening, no business hours are posted for the Chapel Hill location of H&H Bagels.
