Chapel Hill Philharmonia COncert
March 10 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pmFree
The Chapel Hill Philharmonia features renowned violist George Taylor in its “Finale” concert (s0-titled because the concert pieces are the last compositions of their composers). Professor Taylor of the Eastman School of Music has special ties to the Triangle. A former member of the Ciompi quartet, he also co-founded the St. Stephens Chamber Orchestra. He was the conductor of the very first concert of the Chapel Hill Philharmonia, then called the Village Orchestra.
Conductor Donald Oehler leads the orchestra in Raznicek’s exuberant “Donna Diana Overture” and Mozart’s Symphony #41 in C major. Professor Taylor will play Bartok’s challenging Viola Concerto.
The performance is sponsored by the Orange County Arts Commission. Admission is free. A reception will follow.
