The Town of Carrboro re-elected mayor Lydia Lavelle and two incumbents were re-elected to their seats on the town’s Board of Aldermen with one challenger candidate earning a seat on Tuesday night.

Lavelle, who has served as the town’s mayor since 2013, ran unopposed in the mayoral race.

Candidates Susan Romaine, Damon Seils, and Sammy Slade won the three available seats on Carrboro’s Board of Aldermen, defeating candidates Steve Friedman, Matthew Clements, and Matt Neal.

Romaine, who has served in positions on the Orange County Democratic Party since 2006, earned the most votes of the candidates, winning 29.8 percent of votes.

Seils, who will serve his third term, received the second-most votes, earning 28.4 percent.

Slade, who has served on the board since 2009, earned 24 percent of votes, which took third.

Friedman received the fourth-most votes with 12.5 percent.
