Today is Monday, October 5, 2015.  Pets with human voices and why people give their pets these voices.  Santa Claus is running for office in North Pole, Alaska.  Also, what’s up with skydiving cats?  That is what is trending today on Chapelboro.

Pets With Human Voices

Do you know anybody who randomly starts talking in their dog’s “voice?”  Do you think you know what your cat would sound like as a person?  Well, this is apparently a thing.  UNC professor Kurt Gray tells Slate““The first thing people do is treat their pets like people, so a precondition is that they perceive minds in their pets.”

Does your pet have a child’s voice?  Gray has an explanation for that.  “That comes from treating animals like kids. There’s been a funny switch in understanding our relationship to dogs, from ‘master’ to ‘parent.’ It used to be, ‘I’m the master of the dog.’ Now, ‘Oh, I’m the dog’s dad.’”

There’s more on the subject in the below video from Slate.

Santa Claus is Running For Office at the North Pole

You probably assumed that Santa Claus was just some sort of benevolent dictator of the North Pole.  That is evidently not true.  A man named Santa Claus (that is his legal name) is running for city council of North Pole, Alaska (which is a real place).  Claus needs North Pole residents to cast their vote on October 6.

Just for fun, check out this Santa Claus’ Facebook page.  He specifically tells people to NOT send him requests for presents.  That is unfortunate and may hurt his campaign.
