This guy is so little, he doesn’t even have a name – just a litter position! The folks at Orange County Animal Shelter call him Alpha, since he’s the big dog in the family (if three pounds counts as big). In fact, he’s so little that you can’t even adopt him until New Year’s Eve at the earliest!

puppy1Alpha looks like a mix between a Black Lab and a German Shepherd, so he should grow up big and outgoing. For now, though, he’s as roly-poly a puppy as you could hope for, with downy-soft fur and a round belly. He’s just as playful and energetic as you’d expect from such a young one, but he also calms right down when you hold him close.

Puppies are very popular at shelters, so don’t be surprised if this guy is snapped up as soon as he’s eligible. Why not visit him today, and make it your New Year’s resolution to bring him into your home? With a new family (and a new name), he’ll thrive in 2015 and beyond.
