Cold temperatures, swirling winds, and active Charger bats generated a night full of Northern Knight miscues that helped the Chargers dominate 16 – 3 in front of a great crowd in Pittsboro.  The game was broadcast on 97.9 The Hill High School Baseball Thursday night.  The Chargers generated 16 runs on 9 hits while taking advantage of six Northern Knight errors and 9 walks.  Shortstop Bryce Davis had 2 hits on the evening as well as designated hitter Zach Sipe.  Zach Sipe’s evening included a 3 run home run that cleared both the right field fence and the girl’s softball fence measuring in excess of 380 feet.  Sipe and centerfielder Max Hundley each scored 3 times in the five inning contest.  Charger pitcher Tyler Johnson got his 4th win of the season fanning 6 Knight batters in 4 innings.  Zizzy Newell, in his first pitching appearance of the year, finished up the 5th inning in relief.

Although the Knight’s struggled in the field and on the mound, their bats remained effective generating 8 hits in the five innings of play.  The Knight’s offense was highlighted by Cole Singsank’s monster home run over the left center field fence that ended up in the football practice facility.

The Chargers improve to 9 – 6 on the year and 5 – 4 in the Big 8 Conference.  The Knights drop to 13 – 4 overall and 4 – 5 in the conference.  Both teams meet again this evening at Northern High School.

The next broadcast for 97.9 The Hill will be Thursday, May 3rd from Chapel Hill High School when the Tigers host the East Chapel Hill Wildcats in potentially a conference deciding match up.  This will be the final regular season broadcast of the season for 97.9 The Hill High School Sports.  Pregame show will begin at 6:45.
