Summer still lingers in the southern part of heaven but soon it will be time to think about transitioning your summer wardrobe into fall. Our warm days turn into cool nights, which make layering essential. Here are some transitional pieces that you can wear now or wear later…looks that have you covered!

Add a cardigan to your favorite summer tee. This will take you a long way in the south as days remain warm and night temps start to dip slightly. This basic layering marks the first step in the summer to fall transition.

Add a denim jacket and booties to a sleeveless dress. The denim jacket is back. Or did it ever really go away? This is a classic staple that you want to keep around forever.

Add a leather jacket to your favorite maxi dress or try a suede moto jacket. Fall = Leather. Enough said. And not just for jackets. I’m seeing more and more leather pieces trickling in. Think leather sleeveless top or soft leather skirt.

Add leggings to your favorite short dress or a tunic. Love this transition. Sport some OTK (over the knee) boots and you’ve got the fall look.

The beauty of this transitional time is that you likely have these pieces in your wardrobe already. No need to break the wardrobe budget…yet! As you transition in the still summer days of September, rock that embroidered, off-the-shoulder, ruffled LWD (little white dress) before fall’s first chill creeps in.

Stay tuned soon for more fall trends to follow this season!
