The Root Cellar Café & Catering has opened its second location.

The restaurant operated as Foster’s Market for years on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Chapel Hill before changing the name to the Root Cellar in 2014.

The second location is at the new Penguin Place in Chatham Park.

“This beautiful restaurant has been several years in the making, and we are absolutely thrilled to bring our scratch-made food that so many have grown to know and love to the town that we love,” Sera Cuni said in a release. Cuni owns the Root Cellar with her wife Susan White. “As longtime Chatham County residents, we’re proud to be feeding a community that means so much to us as well as playing a role in helping our local economy grow.”

The Pittsboro location will have many of the same food selections as the Chapel Hill café and will add on an extended dinner menu “focused on seasonal flavors and locally sourced ingredients.”

The new café will also feature garage doors that can open to a “large and inviting outdoor patio and fire pit.”

The Root Cellar is the first retail space to open in Chatham Park, according to a release.

A grand opening celebration with varying specials will be held on Wednesday, January 31. More information  is available here.
