In a world with literally thousands of possible sources of information, how can we tell the difference between “real” news and “fake” news? What do we need to do, as individuals, to act responsibly as consumers of information?

This Saturday, May 20, Orange Literacy is holding its 10th annual “Writers for Readers” event, with a distinguished panel of writers discussing literacy. This year’s topic is media literacy: moderator Hodding Carter III will host a panel featuring New York Times writer Jason Zengerle, UNC journalism professor Carol Wulf, and WUNC’s Leoneda Inge.

Orange Literacy executive director Alice Denson and author Daniel Wallace joined Aaron Keck on WCHL to discuss the event. (Wallace also read a passage from his new novel, “Extraordinary Adventures,” out May 30.)
