Week three of high school football on WCHL features a local showdown between two undefeated teams as the 2-0 Carrboro Jaguars play host to the 2-0 Chapel Hill Tigers. The matchup pits two squads hungry to continue their turnarounds from a season ago.

The Tigers have earned some revenge from losses in 2013 with back-to-back victories over Riverside and South Granville to open their 2014 campaign. Meanwhile, the Jaguars opened with a thrilling shootout victory over an improving Cedar Ridge team and followed that up with a decisive win at East Chapel Hill. The Tigers-Jaguars tilt could go a long way in deciding our inaugural Chapelboro Cup champion.

Jeff Hamlin and Chris Casey will have the call of the 7:30 p.m. Friday kickoff at Carrboro on 97.9 FM, WCHL beginning at 7 p.m. with pregame coverage.

There’s plenty of other high school gridiron matchups that we will keep you updated on including between the 2-0 Orange Panthers facing Riverside, undefeated Northwood taking on Jordan-Matthews and the 1-1 Cedar Ridge Red Wolves hosting the 0-2 East Chapel Hill Wildcats in Hillsborough.

And don’t forget to start your evening off with ‘The Grid with Matt & Matt’, WCHL’s high school football pregame show hosted by Matt Oakes and Matt Paul.

At 6:30 p.m., the stage will be set with interviews from all the area head coaches, analysis and predictions from the night’s biggest games, a selection of The Grid Great of the Week, as well as the unveiling of the WCHL/Chapelboro ‘Super Six’ rankings.
